PRP, or platelet-rich plasma therapy, may help support healing and reduce pain associated with certain musculoskeletal conditions, including:
Osteoarthritis, including knee, hip, shoulder and other joint arthritis
Tendon injuries and tendinopathy, such as tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, Achilles tendinopathy and patellar tendinopathy
Ligament sprains and injuries
Muscle strains and other soft-tissue injuries
Plantar fasciitis and some other foot and ankle conditions
Rotator cuff injuries and shoulder pain
Joint pain related to overuse or degenerative changes
Certain sports injuries
Some chronic pain conditions involving joints, tendons or ligaments
PRP may also be considered for certain hair-restoration and skin-rejuvenation applications, depending on the patient’s goals and medical history. PRP is not appropriate for every condition or every patient, and it is not guaranteed to provide relief or restore damaged tissue. Individual responses and results vary.
Talia evaluates each patient’s health history, symptoms, examination findings and treatment goals to determine whether PRP may be appropriate. She will discuss the potential benefits, risks, alternatives and expected recovery before recommending treatment.

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Platelet-rich plasma, commonly called PRP, is prepared from a small sample of the patient’s own blood. The blood is processed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate platelets, which contain proteins and growth factors involved in the body’s normal healing response. The prepared PRP is then injected into the selected treatment area.
PRP is used in orthopedic and regenerative medicine for certain joint, tendon and soft-tissue conditions. Research suggests it may benefit some tendon problems and mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis, but the evidence varies by condition. PRP does not guarantee that damaged cartilage, ligaments, muscles or bones will regenerate, and individual results differ.
Talia evaluates each patient individually to determine whether PRP may be appropriate based on the condition, health history, examination findings and treatment goals.
How PRP Injections Work
Consultation and evaluation: Talia reviews your symptoms, health history, previous treatments and goals. She will explain whether PRP may be appropriate and discuss reasonable expectations, alternatives and potential risks.
Blood collection: If you proceed with treatment, a small amount of your blood is drawn.
PRP preparation: The blood is processed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich portion.
Injection: The prepared PRP is injected into the selected treatment area using an approach appropriate for the condition being addressed.
Aftercare and follow-up: Talia provides individualized instructions regarding activity, expected temporary soreness and follow-up care. Recovery experiences and treatment responses vary.

Conditions PRP May Be Considered For
After an individualized evaluation, PRP may be considered for certain musculoskeletal conditions, including:
• Mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis
• Chronic tennis elbow
• Certain chronic Achilles or patellar tendon conditions
• Selected sports-related ligament or muscle injuries
• Other persistent tendon or soft-tissue problems
Evidence is stronger for some conditions—particularly chronic tennis elbow and mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis—than for others. Having one of these conditions does not automatically mean PRP is appropriate. Talia will evaluate your diagnosis, overall health, previous treatment and individual goals before making a recommendation.
Potential Benefits, Limitations and Risks
Potential benefits
Because PRP is prepared from the patient’s own blood, it may support the body’s normal healing response without introducing donor tissue. Research suggests that PRP may help reduce pain or improve function for certain tendon conditions and mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis. The procedure is performed in an outpatient setting, but benefits are not guaranteed and evidence varies by condition.
Possible risks and limitations
• Temporary pain, soreness, swelling or bruising
• Bleeding or infection at the blood-draw or injection site
• Injury or irritation involving nearby nerves or tissues
• No meaningful improvement in symptoms
• A temporary increase in discomfort after the injection
• The possibility that additional treatment may still be needed
PRP is not appropriate for every patient. Talia will review your medications, medical history and current condition and will discuss the potential benefits, limitations, alternatives and risks before treatment.
